New Warwick Township municipal office planned

Plans are in the works to build a new municipal office in Warwick Township.

The owners of Castell Homes and DLS Electric formed the Watford Investment Group which has purchased several buildings on the east side of Nauvoo Road, from Front Street to Huron Street, in Watford.

Mayor Jackie Rombouts said the buildings will be demolished and a larger municipal office will be constructed as the anchor tenant.

"We have an office that is just office space right now," said Rombouts. "We ended up renovating a few years back because we were running out of room for our staff, so we don't have a council chambers currently."

Rombouts said it hasn't been easy for council to hold its meetings at different township facilities all the time.

"We had been meeting upstairs at the arena and as soon as the ice went in, then you have the music from the figure skating club or pucks hitting the windows, so we have a need for a nice council space," the mayor said.

Rombouts is looking forward to a larger space that will better accommodate the growing community.

The Warwick Township Office is currently located in front of the public works building on Nauvoo Road, just north of Highway 402.
