Arrest warrants issued for cheque scam suspects

Sarnia police have released photos of two people wanted for fraud.

Police reported previously that a man and a woman were working together in a fraudulent cheque scam.

Victims are randomly approached and even offered money to cash what turns out to be a stolen cheque.

The scammers would say they don't have a bank account and desperately need money to travel to see a relative or family member dying of cancer or injured in a serious car crash in another city.

Police said once the victim cashes the cheque and withdraws the money from their account it's too late.

Arrest warrants for fraud under $5,000 and other charges have been requested for Dusty-Wade Robert Ryan, 32, and Nicole Elaine Salisbury, 31, both of Sarnia but with no fixed address.

Anyone with information as to the whereabouts of the suspects is asked to contact the Sarnia Police Service at 519-344-8861 ext. 0, or Sarnia Lambton Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
