United Way campaign at 40 per cent one month in

The Sarnia-Lambton United Way has hit the 40 per cent mark about a month into its campaign.

Executive Director Dave Brown said they've raised $760,000 of the $1.9 million target with nine weeks left to go. He said that's a good place to be at this point in time.

"It's really hard to compare other years because we've had so much going on this year with the election campaign, Shell has kicked-off their campaign earlier than last -- it's really hard to draw comparisons, it's a peculiar year, however, we are happy to be at 40 per cent," he said.

Brown said another member of Sarnia-Lambton's Chemical Valley has helped out the 2019 fundraiser.

"What helped us get to where we are today is NOVA Chemicals had all five of their employee campaign kick-offs last week at all five of their sites, so their employee campaign is off to a good start, and that provided much of the growth over the past week," said Brown. "We've got a busy week coming up with a few more kick-offs and, of course, the week ends with Locally Lambton Dinner. There are still limited tickets available, so I would suggest calling the United Way to get yours."
