Record crowds at Brigden Fall Fair

Attendance at the annual Brigden Fall Fair was up significantly over previous years.

Spokesperson Julie Maw said 54,836 people walked through the fair gates over the Thanksgiving weekend, the most they've seen in a long time.

"So last year was kind of the flood plains as we call it and we were very fortunate for those who came out," said Maw. "But yes, it's been a few years since we've been able to break some records."

She said she's heard a lot of positive feedback from the patrons and volunteers.

"There was a lot of new and exciting things happening at the fair," she said. "One thing that really sits well with our volunteers and a lot of the committees was that our agricultural shows were up. We had more participants in our cattle shows, and being an agricultural fair that's very exciting to see."

Maw said the tear down will continue this week to prepare the grounds for the Demolition Derby this weekend.

She said plans have already started for next year's fair. The theme for the 170th annual event will be "Hats off to Brigden Fair".
