ARTZscape raises $40K for Pathways

ARTZscape By The Bay is being called a resounding success.

The event raised a record $40,000 for Pathways Health Centre for Children.

Event Chair Sandi Grimshaw is thrilled.

She said over 14,000 people attended the August event in Centennial Park in conjunction with the Tall Ships Festival and Bluewater Borderfest.

"We did such a great job, it was beyond our wildest expectations," said Grimshaw. "Our Thursday night kick-off celebration was sold out and the auctions went very, very well. Saturday and Sunday we had almost double the crowd that we have had in other years."

Pathways Executive Director Jenny Greensmith is grateful for the support.

"An event such as ARTZscape does not come together at the last minute," said Greensmith. "It takes vision, hard work, a great deal of organization and many, many helping hands. A huge thank you goes to Terrapure, our title sponsor for their long-standing support, through this event, of the programs and services that Pathways is able to offer children and youth with special needs in our community. We also most gratefully acknowledge the generosity of other sponsors who came forward to support the 'Pirates Bounty' kick-off and ARTZscape events. Last but not least, we at Pathways cannot thank volunteer Event Chair Sandi Grimshaw, and her husband Bob enough for the hard work and enthusiastic energy they have both put into this event this past seven years, culminating in what we will remember as being an epic part of the Tall Ships Festival.”

Pathways Health Centre for Children is focused on rehab and support services in the community, and integrated child care.

It relies on donations, corporate fundraising, special events and sponsorships to meet the service demand that's beyond what the government can fund.
