Significant drug bust at London Line motel

Sarnia police seized $130,000 worth of opioids, meth and cash in a drug raid at a London Line motel Wednesday night.

At about 7:30 p.m. the vice unit and uniform officers executed a search warrant at a motel unit in the 1700 block.

Police say a male suspect allegedly tried to flee, tried to get rid of evidence in the toilet, fought with police, and tried to grab an officer's Taser.

A female suspect in the room complied with the officers' orders.

Cst. John Sottosanti said a subsequent search of the room and suspects resulted in a significant seizure of drugs and weapons.

"As a result of the search of the suspects and the motel unit, officers located 234 grams of fentanyl powder with a street value of $117,420, over 110 grams of crystal methamphetamine with a street value of $11,095, $1,600 in currency, two pairs of brass knuckles, pepper spray, a Taser and a loaded crossbow," said Sottosanti.

Robert Brandon Mitchell, 23, of no fixed address faces numerous charges including trafficking methamphetamine and opioids, possession of a prohibited device or ammunition, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, and resisting police.

Ashley Lynne Lauzon, 24, of Guelph is charged with trafficking, possession of a prohibited device, and possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose.

The two are in custody pending bail hearings.
