Sting lose in OHL preseason play
The visiting Windsor Spitfires doubled the Sarnia Sting 4-2 in OHL preseason play Friday.
Sarnia led 1-0 after the opening period on a goal from forward Anthony Tabak.
The Spitfires would respond with two goals in the second period on goals from Cole Purboo and Will Cuylle.
In the third Daniel D’Amico and Purboo tallied for Windsor before Sarnia’s Nolan Burke scored on the power play.
Tabac said “a couple of bad bounces and a couple of bad plays our way” contributed to the loss.
The third year left wing said it can be tough playing with different linemates during the preseason games.
“Obviously it’s a challenge playing with new guys every night but as the regular season comes around we’ll start to solidify some lines and we’ll get some chemistry going.”
Cameron Lamour stopped 27 of 31 shots for the Sting while Xavier Medina turned aside 21 Sarnia shots.
Sarnia visits Windsor Sunday at 2:00 p.m.
Elsewhere in the “O” the Knights edged Erie 4-3 in a shootout in London and Flint beat Saginaw 7-5.
In the PJHL Brock Perry scored twice for the Flags as Mooretown downed Dresden 7-4.
Trevor Bogaert, Greg Hay, Garrett Miller, Brody Conlon and Brody Genyen also scored for the Flags.
Vancoillie Jacob scored three goals for the Lakers including the overtime winner as Wallaceburg clipped Petrolia 4-3.
Shane Boelens, Josh Jamieson and Nick Burgess scored for the Flyers.
