The OPP's Criminal Investigation Branch [CIB] has been called in to help Lambton OPP investigate the death of a baby.
Lambton OPP, EMS and St. Clair Township Fire responded to a call of a two-month-old child in medical distress at an address on Cameron Street in Corunna around 12:45 p.m. August 20.
West Region Media Relations Coordinator Derek Rogers said the infant was transported to hospital by ambulance but died in hospital on Monday.
Members of the OPP's Major Crime Unit, Criminal Operations and Forensic Identification Services are investigating the circumstances of the death, under the direction of CIB Detective Inspector Pete Liptrott. The Office of the Chief Coroner and Ontario Forensic Pathology Service are also assisting.
A post mortem examination is scheduled Wednesday, August 28.
Rogers said the investigation remains ongoing and the identity of the infant will not be released at this time.
