Campground raffle to help Community Living buy new van

A Lambton Shores campground is raffling off $8,000 in prizes to benefit a local charity.

Orchard View Park is selling $5 raffle tickets for the annual "Trailer Full of Fun" prize pack to support Community Living Sarnia-Lambton.

One lucky winner will go home with a new barbecue, vacation voucher, patio set and snowblower, among other things.

Community Living President Chris King said they're hoping to raise $35,000.

"So far it's generated just around $55,000 in the first three years, and that money has gone towards the purchase of vehicles for our Community Living group," said King. "We're hoping that if we successfully sell out all of the tickets, that will allow us to purchase a wheelchair accessible van, and then we can get it refurbished for one of the group homes in our community."

King said the fundraiser is made possible by campground owners Jo-Anne and David Johnson along with the campers at Orchard View Park.

Tickets can be purchased at Community Living's Sarnia office at 551 Exmouth St. weekdays between 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. until August 30.

Orchard View Park, at 6014 Lakeshore Rd., is hosting an event September 1 from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. to announce the winner -- King said once you're inside the campground, take the second road on the right to teach the event.

Community Living Sarnia-Lambton is a not-for-profit organization dedicated to enriching the lives of people with a disability.
