Household hazardous waste being collected Saturday

A mobile household hazardous waste day is being held on Saturday.

County of Lambton Public Works Manager Matt Deline said residents can safely dispose of corrosive, toxic, reactive, and flammable materials.

"These items should never be placed in a regular landfill," said Deline. "They have the potential to injure workers and also damage the environment."

Deline said they aren't accepting things like PCB's, commercial, industrial, or radioactive waste.

The free depot, co-sponsored by Clean Harbours, runs from 9:30 a.m. until 2 p.m. at the county's public works depot at 6958 Townsend Line in Lambton Shores.

Similar events are planned at Clean Harbours on the last Saturday of September and October.
