The town of Plympton-Wyoming is getting a health and wellness centre.
TD Bank has donated its former branch on Broadway Street to the town, a move announced at the most recent council meeting.
Mayor Lonny Napper said it will fill service gaps in the municipality.
"I think this is the way that health is going these days," said Napper. "There are a lot of outreach programs, and there's a lot of need in the community. To have it right in your own community, if it's a smoking cessation program or something, it's easier to drive down the street than it is to go to Sarnia or Petrolia. I think it's a big plus for us, and I'm excited about it."
Napper said the plan is to have outreach programs for things like diabetes, smoking cessation, and healthy babies.
He said it could become a full-fledged medical clinic in the future.
It's hoped renovations will get underway sometime in the new year.
