'ADEing' local youth with Big Squeeze

Lemonade stands will be popping up across Sarnia-Lambton Wednesday.

It's the first-ever 'Big Squeeze' in support of the local Big Brothers Big Sisters branch.

Spokesperson Kaylen Burgess said 21 business, including all three Blackburn Radio stations at 1415 London Road, will be selling their unique lemonade creations.

She said it's not your typical fundraiser.

"We want everyone to kind of hit up all of them or support which ones are close to you when you're driving by and you see a stand out, test the lemonade out and make a donation to the agency," said Burgess. "It's become kind of a competition between all of them. We visited a couple over the last couple days and everyone is doing something a little bit different and taking their own spin on it. It's kind of cool to see the community come together and support the agency like this."

Burgess said they haven't set a firm fundraising goal, but expects tomorrow will be a great success.

"I definitely think it's something we will continue on, it's been an awesome project," she said. "The first year that an agency in B.C did it I think they raised about $2,000. They're five years in and last year in four hours they raised $15,000. We don't think we're going to hit that this year obviously with our first year, but that being said, we didn't think we would have more than five or six businesses participating either and we're at 21."

The Big Squeeze is on from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m.
