Pickleball a hit in Sarnia-Lambton

Sarnia-Lambton residents now have a new way to stay active and healthy. The pickleball hub officially opened just over a month ago at Blackwell Park.

Sarnia Parks and Rec Director Rob Harwood said it's been a popular spot. "It's amazing when you see the number of people that are out there having a great time, young and old," said Harwood. "Pickleball is the fastest growing sport in North America right now. So, the program is pretty important and it's one of the most popular programs that we have at the Strangway Centre. If you go by there on a given day, you'll see people playing pickleball and having a great time." Harwood said the courts are free and open to the public, but they're often busy and residents are urged to call the Strangway Centre to check on availability. The estimated $120,000 cost was split between the Sarnia Community Foundation, Ontario Trillium Foundation, Ontario Senior Games Association District 33, and Sarnia Parks and Recreation.
