Sting add experience in trade with Ottawa

The Sarnia Sting have added experience to their roster heading into the 2019-2020 OHL season.

The Sting have acquired 19-year-old centre Sam Bitten from the Ottawa 67's for a fifth-round pick (North Bay's) in 2020 and a third-round selection (Sudbury's) in 2021.

Bitten is entering his fourth OHL season after being selected 92nd overall by the 67's in the 2016 OHL Priority Selection.

The 6' 2", 200-pound two-way forward has 22 goals and 59 points in 150 career OHL games, all with the 67's.

The Gloucester, Ontario native also has 25 games of playoff experience which included Ottawa's run to the OHL championship series this past season.

Sting General Manager Nick Sinclair said they're very excited about adding Bitten to the lineup.

"He brings many intangibles both on and off the ice that will be a big benefit as we move forward into this season," said Sinclair. "His character, experience and the way he approaches the game on a day-to-day basis will be instrumental with our club, while his strong two-way game, versatility and ability to play in many key situations gives us an added element to our lineup."

The Sting's newest acquisition, as well as current members and prospects, will be attending a training camp that opens August 26 at Progressive Auto Sales Arena.
