Election runner-up to fill Dawn-Euphemia council vacancy

A vacant position on Dawn-Euphemia council will be filled by the runner-up in the last municipal election.

Mayor Al Broad said council has appointed Ann Gray to replace councillor Bill Bilton, who resigned late last month.

"Ann Gray lost by six votes in the last election, plus she had been on council previous to that election," said Broad.

Gray was first welcomed to council in 2018, when she was appointed to fill a vacancy left by the departure of Paul LeBoeuf.

Councillor Bilton, the municipality's first mayor following amalgamation in 1998, has been on sick leave for the past few months. He served as Lambton County's warden in 1992.
