Inn's Mobile Market rolling again

The Inn of the Good Shepherd's Mobile Market is back on the road providing fresh fruits and vegetables for those in need.

The eighth annual campaign will serve Inn clients around Sarnia-Lambton until mid-November.

Inn Executive Director Myles Vanni said the initiative promotes a healthy lifestyle.

"At the markets, we also have health promoters there -- nurses, health practitioners -- but its main focus is getting healthy food for people. Eating healthy is certainly not cheap and people often will forgo healthy fresh vegetables and fruits because of the cost," he said.

Vanni said they'll be at 14 locations each week for an hour at a time -- nine locations in the county and five in Sarnia.

He said they're able to distribute about 5,500 pounds of fresh vegetables and fruits each week thanks to the generosity of the community.

"Here, because of the great community we have and the farms we have in the area, we get so much donated that we're able to provide this healthy food for people," he said. "We'd love to get home garden produce, which people can just drop it by the Inn. That home produce is a big part of what we're able to provide for folks."

Vanni said you can drop off fresh produce at 115 John St. in Sarnia Monday to Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
