St. Clair River Run marks 10 years

The annual St. Clair River Run is on Saturday.

Organizer Ben Hazzard said the course follows the St. Clair River through Sombra and Port Lambton.

He said the July 20 event features a 10-kilometre run and a stroller-friendly five-kilometre walk/run.

"We have a minnow run as well for kids," said Hazzard. "It's to get kids kind of active and involved. A lot of like three, four and five-year-olds, they can do about a 150 to 200-foot run right into the finish line and everybody cheers them on. Those kids often are the ones taking part in the five-kilometre walk/run just a couple years later."

Participants are asked to meet at Brander Park in Port Lambton, with registration between 6:30 a.m. and 7 a.m.

St. Clair Parkway will be closed from Pointe Line to Wilkesport Line (Brander Park to Branton Cundick Park) from 7 a.m. to noon.

Money raised will support the St. Clair River Trail. Since it's inception over $500,000 has been raised.
