Body recovered from St. Clair River

A body was recovered from the St. Clair River Thursday morning that's believed to be that of a missing swimmer from last Friday night.

The St. Clair County Sheriff Office said a call was received around 7:45 a.m. from a relative of Riley Gleason.

The 21-year-old East China Township man had been missing since jumping into the river from a boat behind the St. Clair Inn, at St. Clair Michigan.

The Sheriff's Office said the relative had rented a plane and spotted a body off Russell Island.

Algonac Fire and Rescue sent a boat into the area and located the body, which was then transported back to shore and taken to the morgue at McLaren Port Huron Hospital.

The Sheriff's Office said the St. Clair County Medical Examiner's Office will conduct an examination to positively identify the body.

It's not known how long it will take before the findings are released.
