Another Sarnia bank officially closed

Sarnia's downtown Bank of Montreal officially closes on Friday.

Operations at the Christina Street branch will move to the Exmouth Street location effectively immediately.

About $1.3 million in renovations are underway at the BMO in central Sarnia, including a new teller station, a multi-currency ATM and parking improvements.

The closure of the downtown branch, which was announced in February, will have no impact on employment.

It's the latest in a series of downtown bank closures in Sarnia.

The CIBC branch closed in May of last year and the County of Lambton purchased the building in November.

The downtown and London Road Royal Bank branches merged at a new Lambton Mall location last fall.
