Bright's Grove ready to celebrate Canada's 152nd birthday

The Bright's Grove Optimists are once again hosting Canada Day festivities on Saturday, June 22.

The celebration starts will the parade at 11 a.m. The route has changed due to construction on Waterworks Road.

The parade will head south and east along Marion Avenue to James Street East, then lap around Kenwick Park.

Director Shannon Galarneau said the parade will end at the park around noon, followed by the opening ceremonies.

"We have a huge line up of activities from kiddie rides, face painting, balloon animals and local entertainment," said Galarneau. "Of course we're going to have the Optimist Club out doing their barbecue. The big event in the evening is going to be a free concert, which is also family friendly, from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. And back by popular demand, we're going to have Scott Manery and the Barn Burners performing for us."

Activities at Kenwick Park will continue until 3 p.m, and the BG Optimist's Beer Garden will be open from 6:30 p.m. to 10 p.m.
