Significant donation supports college's international students

Another sizable donation was celebrated at Lambton College Monday.

College leadership, college foundation, and School of International Education members gathered to recognize a $425,000 gift from guard.me International Insurance Monday.

Company President Keith Segal said they supply over 800 students at Lambton with coverage that's available in about 120 languages.

"We have a service that's part of our insurance that's a 24 hour, seven day a week call to a doctor, so they can reach somebody at any time of the day or night if they have a problem," said Segal.

International Education Associate Dean Hanna Eroglu said the money will be used to increase services for international students particularly in areas of housing, student activities, settlement and integration requirements.

"This donation has gone towards refurbishing the SAC [lounge] student council area for international and domestic students," said Eroglu. "We also take the funding and provide opportunities for international students to do some work opportunity on campus."

International students make up about 30 per cent of Lambton's enrollment.
