Lambton Shores mayor assesses damage following Forest flooding

Lambton Shores Mayor Bill Weber took to the the streets Saturday to survey flood damage in the town of Forest.

A slow moving cluster of severe thunderstorms brought flooding rains to parts of north Lambton County early Saturday morning.

Mayor Weber said restoration crews were in the town dealing with residential water damage.

"Storm sewers could not handle the amount of water so there were some backups and there were some sewage backups in places as well," said Weber. "That's unfortunate but those are the things we'll look into and see if there's possibilities on how to eliminate that and to make it better going forward."

The mayor described the storm as a "100 year rain event."

Up to 100 millimetres or four inches of rain fell in the Forest area in less than two hours.
