Flooding rain in Forest (VIDEO)

A slow moving cluster of severe thunderstorms brought flooding rains to parts of north Lambton early Saturday morning.

Environment Canada issued a warning just before 6 a.m. for Forest, Parkhill, Lucan, Arkona, Sable, Nairn, Ailsa Craig, Denfield and Elginfield.

The warning was ended by 7 a.m. but not before heavy downpours caused flooding in areas including Forest.

Late Saturday morning Environment Canada issued a severe thunderstorm watch, saying potentially heavy thunderstorms were expected to redevelop in the afternoon across most of southern Ontario.

The weather agency said the main threats were strong wind gusts and hail.

Localized flooding was also possible.

The Ausable Bayfield Conservation Authority (ABCA) issued a flood warning at 11:30 a.m. Saturday for parts of the southern watershed.

The ABCA said preliminary indications were that total rainfall of 50 millimetres to 100 millimetres, up to four inches, fell around the communities of Forest, Parkhill, Ailsa Craig and Lucan. Most of it over a two hour period.

The authority reminded residents to use caution near all watercourses due to slippery and unstable banks, and cold water.
