Another longtime family physician is handing his practice off to a new doctor in Sarnia.
The Physician Recruitment Taskforce of Sarnia-Lambton has recruited Dr. Cassandra Taylor to take over for retiring Dr. Gert Schlebusch May 1.
Recruitment Coordinator Carly Cox said Dr. Taylor has been in contact with the task force since medical school.
"She's a Sarnia native," said Cox. "She was born and raised here. She has two young children that are already in school. She's very involved within the community and we were really just waiting for that perfect opportunity to come up for her."
Cox said they've been working together for the past few months to ease the transfer.
"She will be taking over his entire roster of patients," she said. "Patients have already been notified. She will be accepting new patients, likely, in late summer."
Dr. Taylor completed an Honours Bachelor of Medical Sciences [BSC] in Molecular Cell Biology at Western University.
She also studied on the Dutch island of Saba in the Caribbean, before returning to do her residency training in London and Sarnia.
