A cold northerly wind did not stop a significant crowd from gathering outside Sarnia City Hall Friday evening.
The Sarnia Muslim Association and Local Immigration Partnership invited the community to show solidarity in the wake of the Mosque shootings in Christchurch, New Zealand a week ago.
The attacks March 15 killed 50 people and injured numerous others.
Event co-organizer Aruba Mahmud said the purpose was for the Sarnia community to show support in the wake of the attacks, and send a message that bigotry and hatred are not acceptable.
Sarnia Mayor Mike Bradley, MPP Bob Bailey, and Sarnia Police Chief Norm Hansen were among the dignitaries in attendance.
