Abandoned farmhouse fires under investigation

Lambton OPP and the Ontario Fire Marshal's Office are investigating after two abandoned farmhouses were engulfed in flames, within an hour of each other, early Sunday.

Provincial police were first called to the 6000 block of Rokeby Line in Brooke-Alvinston at 3:45 a.m. and then responded to the 4000 block of Shiloh Line in Enniskillen Township at 4:30 a.m.

The cause of both fires has yet to be determined.

Damage in the Brooke-Alvinston blaze has been estimated at $50,000.

Rural residents are being reminded by the OPP to be aware of suspicious vehicles and persons around abandoned buildings.
