Sting will enforce zero tolerance policy

An incident during the Sarnia Sting game against Windsor Friday at Progressive Auto Sales Arena prompted a statement from the ownership and management of the team regarding the zero tolerance policy for throwing foreign objects on the ice.

During the second intermission some fans tossed real pucks onto the ice, rather than foam pucks, during the Chuck-a-Puck fundraising promotion causing minor injury to a Sting promotional staff member.

The hockey club said it will be making changes to how the promotion is run including extra game day staff, facility, management and event security to monitor the crowd.

The Sting said anyone found to be violating these rules and risking the health and safety of staff and fans will face serious consequences and potential legal action.

Anyone who has any concerns or can comment on the actions that occurred on Friday night at Progressive Auto Sales Arena is encouraged to reach out confidentially to Team President Bill Abercrombie at 519-541-1717.

The Sting are back in action against Saginaw in the annual Family Day matinee Monday afternoon.
