Varsity baseball coming to Lambton College

Lambton College is going to field a men's baseball team this fall for the first time in its more than 50 year history.

The season will feature a 20 game OCAA schedule being played in September and October.

Lambton will face the likes of Fanshawe, St. Clair College, Humber, Seneca, Durham, and George Brown.

Manager James Grant, who is also on the Sarnia Braves staff, will be joined by Justin Randall in the dugout.

Grant said it's a very exciting time for the college.

"There's so much talent in the local region when it comes to baseball," said Grant. "I think it's a fit that's going to be really good for Lambton College. It's going to give us a chance to be competitive in a sport with some local athletes. I think it's going to be a real benefit for everyone playing baseball in Lambton and neighbouring counties."

Grant said the college will be working closely with the Braves to recruit local baseball talent.

Home games will likely be played at either Blackwell Park or Errol Russell Park.

The year will culminate in a year end provincial championship.
