Kel-Gor donation a slam dunk for Lambton College

A prominent Sarnia industrial contractor has made a generous donation towards Lambton College's new Athletics and Fitness Complex.

Kel-Gor Limited employees presented the college with $115,000 in between the Lambton men's and women's basketball games Tuesday night -- their final home games of the regular season.

Lambton President Judith Morris said both the college and Kel-Gor have made a great team for a long time.

"I think they share the same values as Lambton College in terms of a healthy community, and they understand that their donation will help create that healthy community and healthy college," she said. "By supporting our fitness centre and our campaign, we've come together to do just that."

The money will support the Alumni Hall and VIP area, a space that overlooks the 15,000 sq. ft. gymnasium.

Morris said the newest and nicest athletics facility in the Ontario college system is about to get even better.

"Any donation can add to the facility by adding certain amenities that perhaps other places don't have, and for now, everybody will just have to come and find out what they are," she said.

The $18.2 million Athletics and Fitness Complex took roughly two years to complete, and officially opened October 18, 2018.

The investment made by Kel-Gor supports the Lambton College Foundation's Envision Tomorrow Capital and Equipment Renewal Campaign, which launched in June 2015.
