Most Lambton municipalities say yes to pot

Nearly three-quarters of Lambton County's 11 municipalities will allow the retail sale of cannabis.

The only three voting to opt out were St. Clair Township, The Village of Point Edward and Plympton-Wyoming.

Enniskillen Township councillors did not vote by the January 22 deadline, so by default, the sale of recreational marijuana will be permitted in the community.

Enniskillen is home to High Park Farms, a state of the art pot production greenhouse.

Municipal councils voting to allow cannabis stores within their boundaries were Sarnia, Petrolia, Lambton Shores, Warwick, Brooke-Alvinston, Dawn-Euphemia and Oil Springs.

During a lottery earlier this month, only 25 retail licences in Ontario were granted for start-up in April due to supply shortages that fall under federal jurisdiction.

It doesn't appear any Sarnia-Lambton municipalities received any of the seven licences awarded in the west region.
