Imperial Oil plans to begin pipeline inspection and preventative maintenance work in and around its Sarnia site Thursday.
Aamjiwnaang First Nation said it's been told by the company that community members may notice the use of a temporary ground flare in the area near Sun Avenue and Vidal Street South until Friday.
The flare will be used intermittently to safely burn-off excess ethane.
Imperial said it will make every effort to minimize any flaring and precautionary air monitoring will be conducted.
Trucks and other machinery may be noticeable in the same area as part of pipeline work that's expected to be complete by mid-February.
