Legionnaires fall to Kings Thursday night

The Sarnia Legionnaires (16-10-1-4) allowed three third period goals in a 6-3 loss against the Komoka Kings (14-17-1-1)  in GOJHL hockey action at the Brock St. Barn Thursday. The loss put an end to Sarnia's fiv- game point streak.

Joe Ferrera, Isaac McLean, and Nolan DeGurse all scored for Sarnia, while Joel Mazzilli had a big night for Komoka with three goals and two assists. The Legionnaires trailed the contest 3-2 after one period of play. DeGurse tied the game 3-3 just 2:21 into the second on a wraparound goal. The Kings came out strong in the final period, scoring three goals to seal the 6-3 win.

Legionnaires goalie Jakob Knowles made 36 saves on 41 shots faced. Owen Say turned aside 31 of 34 shots in the Komoka net. Sarnia went a perfect 7/7 on the penalty kill but failed to capitalize on four powerplay opportunities.

The Legionnaires sit in fourth place in the Western Conference standings with 37 points. London leads the way with 51 points, while Leamington and Chatham are tied for second place with 42 each.

The Legionnaires and Kings will match up again on Saturday night in Komoka.
