Funds sought for beefed up Borderfest security

Bluewater Borderfest wants to amp up security for this year's event.

PM Entertainment Foundation spokesperson Brian McNair said they're synchronizing the music festival with the tall ships festival in August and want to make sure entrance and exit fencing and stage barriers are secure.

"In the light of recent years, and events such as the Yonge Street incident in Toronto to severe incidents like Las Vegas, together we want to make sure that we do everything in our power to protect tourists in Sarnia-Lambton -- all our visitors that come to the park, our performing artists and our volunteers," said McNair.

The foundation is requesting a $15,000 capital grant to help pay for the enhanced fencing and barriers.

Sarnia council will consider the request during 2019 budget deliberations on Tuesday, January 15.
