Santavy sentenced to 90 days in jail

Avoiding a need for a trial in the spring, Boady Santavy entered a guilty plea to failing to remain at the scene of an accident under the Highway Traffic Act.

The 21-year-old was sentenced to 90 days in jail in Sarnia court Tuesday,  in connection with the crash that happened last spring.

Santavy was also given a 12-month driving ban and a 12 month probation period following his incarceration.

A 29-year-old man walking along Lakeshore Road was hit by a vehicle near Blackwell Side Road around 1:30 a.m. on March 18, 2018.

Santavy went to Sarnia police headquarters the following day and was charged in connection with the hit-and-run collision.

The victim suffered serious injuries and spent a week in hospital before being released to recover at home.

Trial dates had originally been set for March of 2019.
