Police shooting in Port Huron

If you were heading home from the U-S Saturday morning you likely noticed a heavy police presence near the Bluewater Bridge in Port Huron.

At around 7:16 a.m. Port Huron Police officers were dispatched to the McDonald's on Pine Grove Avenue on a report of a 21 year-old man from Lexington stabbing himself in the parking lot.

When police confronted the man, who was covered in blood and knife in hand, he charged the officers in an aggressive manner.

One of the officers shot the man several times in self defense.

The victim was transported to hospital in critical but stable condition.

Per department policy, the Michigan State Police were contacted to handle the investigation and the officers involved were put on paid administrated leave while this incident is being investigated.
