Vegas lottery raising funds for Canatara playground equipment

The Children's Animal Farm at Canatara Park could soon have some new playground equipment thanks to Communities in Bloom's latest fundraiser.

The organization is selling $10 lottery tickets for a chance to win a trip for two to Las Vegas.

It includes tickets to see the Golden Knights host the Toronto Maple Leafs on Valentine's Day, airfare, hotel accommodations, and $250 spending money.

Committee Member Diana Letourneau said last year's fundraising efforts were very successful.

"We were able to pay for the signage at Veteran's Park," said Letourneau. "I don't know if people realize that the signs at Germain Park, when we had the chance to win the backyard makeover, that money went to that signage and we paid over $25,000 for two signs at Centennial Park."

Some of the money will also be put toward installing new signage at the entrances to Canatara Park.

Tickets are available at a number of locations including the Strangway Centre, DeGroot's, Coffee Culture, Sarnia City Hall, Tourism Sarnia-Lambton, and Praill's.

They can also be bought over the phone by calling Diana at 519-336-3343.

The draw will be done at the Sarnia Sting hockey game on January 11.
