Local food banks are getting busier with more residents looking for assistance during the winter months.
Blackburn Radio's K106.3 held its annual Food Drive Friday morning at The Home Depot, benefitting the Inn of the Good Shepherd.
Executive Director Myles Vanni said on average over 1,800 people a month access the food bank, and with further cuts to social assistance programs, that number could easily climb higher.
"The majority of people are working part-time jobs that doesn't have benefits so you get 20 hours of work this week and 10 the next week and 30 the next, how do you plan and how do you budget?" said Vanni.
Donations can be dropped off all weekend at Home Depot on Quinn Drive.
