Forest Paralympian honoured with Excellence Award

Forest native and Paralympic medalist Tyler McGregor received a prestigious award Thursday.

The Foundation for Global Sports Development announced the sledge hockey player was among the ten recipients of its 2018 Athletes in Excellence Award.

The 24-year-old McGregor was honoured for his volunteer work with Classroom Champions to mentor youth, Childcan to raise funds for families who are facing childhood cancer, and Princess Margaret Hospital and Make-a-Wish Foundation to support youth facing cancer.

The former North Lambton Secondary student won a silver medal at the 2018 Paralympic Games in Pyeongchang, and a bronze medal from Sochi in 2014.

McGregor finished as Canada’s top scorer at the 2018 Games, and was third among all skaters with eight goals and five assists.
