Major upgrades to Sarnia's Canatara Park are set to begin next year.
City Manager of Recreation and Planning Ryan Chamney said the city is in the initial stages of developing a new playground and community hub for the popular park.
"It'll be a fully accessible playground, inclusive park space, and it'll be more of a destination type of park and gathering area that will have features for all ages and all abilities," he said.
Chamney said the total scale and price of the project has yet to be finalized.
The rotary clubs of Sarnia will provide part of the funding through their annual "Trip of the Month" club raffle.
Chamney said the equipment will be installed with a focus on inclusiveness, while the community hub will provide a "flexible" space for diverse events and activities.
The entire project is to be complete by 2020.
