RBC donation helps sustain The HUB

Sarnia-Lambton Rebound has received a big boost for the continued operation of The Hub.

Executive Director Carrie McEachran said the RBC Future Launch program has donated $99,000 to the community outreach centre that provides support services to youth at risk.

She said it'll help them provide youth with life skills, job and leadership tools.

"A big piece of what this funding will be used towards is to create a social enterprise that is youth-led," said McEachran. "The youth themselves are working on creating a social enterprise with the goal to create sustainable funding to keep The Hub doors open."

McEachran said the funds will be made available to the program over the next two years.

"The money will be helping with startup cost for the social enterprise. RBC has offered their services by doing some financial literacy. That's a big part of what RBC is about is creating that partnership with the youth as well, and they're very committed to that," she said. "It's really amazing. We were so excited to get that phone call that this donation was coming in. It's a really big boost to The Hub for sure."

The donation was announced at the grand opening ceremony of Sarnia's newest RBC branch on Lambton Mall Road.

The HUB is located in St. Luke's United Church at Indian Road and Wellington Street.
