A Sarnia-born long distance runner has been selected to Athletics Canada's world championship cross-country team.
Andrew Davies, a 2018 Northern grad, was one of 24 athletes selected Thursday.
Davies will run in the men's under-20 division at both the NACAC championships February 16 in Trinidad and Tobago, and at the IAAF championships March 30 in Denmark.
Davies is in his first year at McMaster University studying Integrated Business and Humanities. He is also a member of both the cross country and track and field teams for the Marauders.
During his time at Northern, Davies competed as an LKSSAA Individual Champion in cross country, he won the LKSSAA and SWOSSAA championships for tennis, as well as an LKSSAA champion and OFSAA West Regional qualifier for track and field.
Davies was named the Senior Athlete of the Year at Northern for the 2017-2018 school year.
