Santa's coming to town

A total of 50 floats will make their way down Christina Street Saturday evening in the 38th annual Sarnia Santa Claus Parade.

The procession begins at 6 p.m. and moves south from Exmouth Street to Wellington Street.

Spokesman Bob Marks said the American marching bands are always a big hit.

There are four this year.

"We've got the two Rochester bands again and Memphis, Michigan and the Port Huron Northern bands are playing again along with the local Air Cadet band," said Marks.

The parade costs about $16,000 to stage.

Students from Sarnia Christian School will again be collecting food donations for the Inn of the Good Shepherd.

Roads will be closed and there'll be parking restrictions for Sarnia's parade Saturday.

Starting at 2:30 p.m., no on-street parking will be allowed along Wellington Street and Christina Street.

Christina Street will be closed between Errol Road and Michigan Avenue.

The parade route will be closed at 5:30. Roads will reopen at about 9 p.m.

Watford's Santa Claus parade is at 10 a.m on Saturday and the Petrolia parade will begin at 2 p.m.
