The Sarnia Sting hockey club has traded overage forward Anthony Salinitri to the Oshawa Generals.
Sting General Manager Nick Sinclair announced the trade on Wednesday. He said in exchange for the veteran forward, the Sarnia Sting will receive three future draft picks which include Sudbury's second-round pick in 2019, Owen Sound's fourth-round pick in 2020 and Hamilton's second-round pick in 2022.
“Anthony was a major piece of our team the last four years both on and off the ice," said Sinclair. "He conducted himself as a true professional and was a tremendous role model for his younger teammates as well as the youth in our community. We can not thank Anthony enough for his dedication to our program and wish him the best of luck as he moves on to further his hockey career in Oshawa.”
Salinitri, a Windsor native, was originally selected 17th overall in the first round of the 2014 OHL Priority Selection, by the Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds. After being traded to Sarnia in 2015, Salinitri spent four seasons with the Sting, totalling 249 games.
Through 270 OHL games, Salinitri has 94 goals and 99 assists totalling 193 points.
