It's been an active week for businesses across Sarnia-Lambton who have offered up some great bargains for Blackburn Radio's "Shop Local" week.
Operations and Sales Manager Martin Vrolyk says the event was launched five years ago ahead of Black Friday, to encourage residents to spend their dollars on this side of the bridge.
"We've had a really good and busy week," said Vrolyk. "We've been to over 30 businesses, broadcasting from them, and it's just been busy and a really good atmosphere wherever we go."
Vrolyk said Shop Local week has become the kick-off to the Christmas shopping season for a lot of people in Sarnia-Lambton.
"The local businesses get it, they participate and have just as great a value as you can find anywhere -- and people locally are really starting to see that."
Most stores kicked off sales Thursday and planned to continue offering deals throughout the weekend.
