Registration ends Saturday for Christmas hampers

The Salvation Army is reminding Sarnia-Lambton residents Saturday is the last day to register for a Christmas hamper.

The agency says applications are down by about 100 from last year, and they're concerned people are missing out.

Captain Nancy Braye says there are plenty of hampers to go around.

"There's no issue with donations at this time, our concern is that there are simply people in our community who will need help -- but they have not applied yet," said Braye.

Saturday's registration is from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. at the Salvation Army office at 970 Confederation St.

Those applying are asked to bring ID for everyone in the household and proof of income.

Toys for the hampers are being collected through the 49th annual CHOK Gift of Christmas in cooperation with McDonalds.
