Toys needed to ensure Christmas for Everyone

Toy donations are urgently needed for Petrolia's Christmas For Everyone drive.

Coordinator Sandra Hartman said toys are needed for both boys and girls to complete this year's holiday boxes.

"We're finding that donations are very low this year," said Hartman. "I'm not sure if people are just not in the festive season yet or what, but we are finding that they're really trickling in."

Hartman suggested donations like board games, arts and craft kits, puzzles, building blocks and action figures.

For kids ten and up, the need is greater.

"Nowadays with everything being electronics, really there's not a whole lot of toys for those ages and the toys that are those ages are extremely expensive," she said.

Hartman said gift cards are ideal for that age group.

Toy or monetary donations can be dropped off at 4156 Petrolia Line (next to Tim Hortons) at the rear of the building, Monday through Saturday from 9 a.m to 5 p.m., until December 3.

Volunteers plan to pack 400 boxes, which will be delivered by local firefighters to families starting December 20.
