Volunteers needed to set up Celebration of Lights

Sarnia's Celebration of Lights displays are being put up on Saturday, and organizers are looking for at least 75 volunteers to come and help.

This year about 42 displays will be at Centennial Park, including some that have been fixed up after being put away for a couple of years.

Board Member Cathie Blake-Baker said those interested can meet at the Suncor Agora at 9 a.m.

"Last year, we were in the park on the day of the opening ceremonies trying to get last minute things done because we just didn't have the people to help us," said Blake-Baker. "But, there have been years where we're done at 1 p.m. and that's just perfect because nobody is overtired or frozen or anything. We do provide a lunch for everybody."

A crane will put up the arch over Front Street on Friday which will result in a road closure for part of the day.

The displays will be lit up on November 24 around 6 p.m. as part of a kick-off party which will include fireworks and a live band.

They'll be on every evening throughout the holiday season from 5 p.m. until 11 p.m.
