Sarnia police seize deadly ‘purple heroin’ in traffic stop

Sarnia police seized a deadly combination drug known as "purple heroin" in a traffic stop Wednesday.

Members of the Community Orientated Police Problem Solving (COPPS) unit stopped a vehicle in the area of George and Russell Streets around 2 p.m.

Constable John Sottosanti said officers quickly determined the driver had a suspended license, arrested him and located purple coloured heroin and crystal methamphetamine during a search of the vehicle. The drugs have an approximate street value of $1,000.

The driver, Bradley Furtah, 30, was charged with two counts of possession of a controlled substance and driving while suspended.

His passenger, Michline Judith Domingue, 29, was charged with two counts of possession of a controlled substance.

According to Health Canada, purple heroin contains heroin, morphine, fentanyl and carfentanil.

Carfentanil alone is 100 times more powerful than fentanyl and 10,000 times more potent than morphine.

Exposure to even a small amount can be fatal.
