Sarnia residents have an opportunity now to make known their opinions on the retail sale of cannabis in the city.
Deputy City Clerk James Jenkins said they've launched a survey to gauge public opinion at www.speakupsarnia.ca.
"It's a quick registration process, after that you can register using Facebook or other social media," said Jenkins. "You can feel free to express your thoughts. The survey will be open up until November 28th and we're just looking for feedback from citizens as far as retail cannabis goes."
Jenkins said other questions relate to the level of concern, areas stores should not be near -- like schools and parks -- and whether residents think it'll create jobs and benefit the economy.
He said staff will use the information to determine their recommendation to city council on how to move forward in mid-December.
The provincial government is giving municipalities a chance to opt out of selling legal marijuana, but a decision must be made before a January 22 deadline.
