Changes to this year's Sarnia Remembrance Day ceremony

Sarnia's Remembrance Day ceremony will change location this year to mark the 100th anniversary of the Armistice marking the end of World War I.

Royal Canadian Legion Branch 62 spokesman Les Jones said it will be held inside the Sarnia Arena.

"We wanted to ensure everyone, including aged veterans, could attend this historic event," said Jones. "In order to alleviate problems with inclement weather, we decided to hold it inside."

The parade will form up on Wellington Street between Front Street and Christina Street, make a quick stop at Veterans Park to lay five wreaths before heading to the arena.

The Royal Canadian Legion and the Canadian government have partnered on the Bells of Peace.

It was 100 years ago that church bells rang out world wide to share the news about the end of The Great War. Several Sarnia churches and one fire station will do the same this November 11.
